Joining him is Dr. Marc Catalano, Chief of Gastroenterology and internationally recognized advanced endoscopist with more than 400 peer-reviewed publications, providing world-class expertise in pancreatic and biliary diseases, Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS), ERCP, and other advanced therapeutic endoscopic procedures.
Curative Digestive Disease Center offers a truly integrated model of care. Our dedicated VCU-trained, board-certified anesthesiologist, Dr. Larry Tong, provides on-site anesthesia services to ensure the highest standards of safety and patient comfort during endoscopic procedures. Our specialized in-house gastrointestinal pathology laboratory, led by Dr. Ghulam Ilyas, delivers rapid, expert interpretation of biopsy specimens, allowing faster diagnosis, timely communication of results, and earlier treatment planning. For patients with gastrointestinal cancers and blood disorders, Dr. Anaum Maqsood, our board-certified medical oncologist and hematologist, provides seamless access to comprehensive oncology care within the same practice.

At Curative Digestive Disease Center, we treat a wide range of gastrointestinal and liver conditions, including acid reflux, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, chronic pancreatitis, colon cancer, liver disease, gallstones, and pancreatic cancer.
How often should I get a colonoscopy?
Routine colonoscopy screenings are recommended every 10 years starting at age 45. If you have a family history of colon cancer or other risk factors, your gastroenterologist may recommend earlier or more frequent screenings.
