Founded in 2022, Curative Digestive Disease Center has rapidly become one of Houston’s premier destinations for comprehensive digestive health. Led by Dr. Ahmad Farooq, Founder and Gastroenterologist/Hepatologist and Adjunct Assistant Professor at Duke University, our practice combines academic excellence with compassionate, personalized care. Joining him is Dr. Marc Catalano, Chief of Gastroenterology and internationally recognized advanced endoscopist with more than 400 peer-reviewed publications, providing world-class expertise in pancreatic and biliary diseases, Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS), ERCP, and other advanced therapeutic endoscopic procedures.
Curative Digestive Disease Center offers a truly integrated model of care. Our dedicated VCU-trained, board-certified anesthesiologist, Dr. Larry Tong, provides on-site anesthesia services to ensure the highest standards of safety and patient comfort during endoscopic procedures. Our specialized in-house gastrointestinal pathology laboratory, led by Dr. Ghulam Ilyas, delivers rapid, expert interpretation of biopsy specimens, allowing faster diagnosis, timely communication of results, and earlier treatment planning. For patients with gastrointestinal cancers and blood disorders, Dr. Anaum Maqsood, our board-certified medical oncologist and hematologist, provides seamless access to comprehensive oncology care within the same practice.
Our state-of-the-art facility features an on-site endoscopy center, advanced diagnostic imaging, FibroScan®, capsule endoscopy, infusion services, and in-house pathology, allowing patients to receive comprehensive care under one roof. What conditions are treated at Curative Digestive Disease Center?
At Curative Digestive Disease Center, we treat a wide range of gastrointestinal and liver conditions, including acid reflux, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, chronic pancreatitis, colon cancer, liver disease, gallstones, and pancreatic cancer.
How often should I get a colonoscopy?
Routine colonoscopy screenings are recommended every 10 years starting at age 45. If you have a family history of colon cancer or other risk factors, your gastroenterologist may recommend earlier or more frequent screenings.
Does Curative Digestive Disease Center accept insurance?
Yes, we accept most major insurance plans. Please contact our office to confirm your coverage and discuss any questions related to insurance or billing.
What procedures are performed at your center?
We provide advanced diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including colonoscopy, esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD), endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), capsule endoscopy, and endoscopy. We also have an in-house pathology department for precise diagnostic results.
What should I expect during my first visit?
During your initial visit, Dr. Ahmad Farooq will review your medical history, discuss your symptoms, and create a personalized care plan. Depending on your condition, diagnostic tests or procedures may be recommended.
